Yes, You! – Rahab | May 7, 2023

God  your story, when you make the choice to  into His story.

You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

Psalm 139:16

If you’re feeling disappointed with your life…let God  your story.

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2

Learning from Rahab's Story:

  1. God  for you to be in His story.

“Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.”

Joshua 2:1

“You didn’t choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won’t spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in relation to me, he gives you.”

John 15:16

  1. God always makes a  for us to be in His story.

“Now the men had said to her, “This oath you made us swear will not be binding on us unless, when we enter the land, you have tied this scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you have brought your father and mother, your brothers and all your family into your house. If any of them go outside your house into the street, their blood will be on their own heads; we will not be responsible. As for those who are in the house with you, their blood will be on our head if a hand is laid on them. But if you tell what we are doing, we will be released from the oath you made us swear.”

“Agreed,” she replied. “Let it be as you say.”

Joshua 2:17-21

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

 Romans 8:28

  1. God’s story always has a

"Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife,"

Matthew 1:3, 5-6

Through Tamar’s story – God will forgive the darkest sins.

Through Rahab’s story – God will use you regardless of your past.

Through Ruth’s story – God will not leave anyone out.

Through Bathsheba’s story – God can heal any situation.

God wants you to know He wants to write a better story for you.

Rehab's Testimony:

  1. “God invites you to be a part of His story –  Him.

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 8:12

How do we follow Jesus?

Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me (living a cross centered life). 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.

Luke 9:23-24

  1. “God wants to surprise you with His love –  Him.”

Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.

Hebrews 4:15-16 MSG

  1. “God wants you to love others with your actions – Him.”

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

    1 John 3:16

  2. "God signs his Name to your story-  Him."

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Timothy 1:15-17
