Central Idea: True resilience is born out of a lifelong commitment to seeking and applying God's wisdom. We allow His truth to transform our hearts and guide us so we may flourish even amidst trials.

1.  - Listen Carefully

Proverbs 4:20 NASB 2020- My son, pay attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.

Isaiah 6:9 NIV- He said, “Go and tell this people: “ ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’

2.  - Keep Careful Watch

Proverbs 4:21–22 NASB 2020- They are not to escape from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, And healing to all their body.

3.  - Guard at All Cost

Proverbs 4:23- “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

Matthew 12:33–37 NLT- “A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad. You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”

Mark 7:20–23 NLT- And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”

4.  - Remain Focused

Proverbs 4:24–25 NASB 2020- Rid yourself of a deceitful mouth And keep devious speech far from you. Let your eyes look directly ahead And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you.

5.  - Choose the right path

Proverbs 4:26–27 NASB 2020- Watch the path of your feet, And all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right or to the left; Turn your foot from evil.

“Lord, when my eye confronts my heart, and I realize that you filled my heart with your love, I am breathless and amazement. Once my heart was so small in its vision, so narrow in its compassion, so weak in its zeal for truth. Then you chose to enter my heart, and now in my heart I can see you, I can love all your people, and I have courage to proclaim the truth of your gospel to anyone and everyone. Like wax before a fire, my heart has melted under the heat of your love.” - Nicholas Ludwig von Zinzendorf (1700-1760)
