Serve Day

Serve Day is an amazing opportunity to bless others and be blessed. As an entire church, we will go out into our communities and show the love of Christ in real and tangible ways. Turning Point’s Small Groups will choose a serve project of their own that everyone can do together as a group on Serve Day, so there will be many ways to get involved.

Serve Day Questions and Information

What is Serve Day?

Serve Day is our annual outreach event that brings all of our Small Groups and Dream Teams together. It is an exciting opportunity for us, the local church, to go into our communities and love our neighbors. This Summer, whether through a Small Group or by joining a Serve Day project, come be a part of serving our communities and sharing the love of Jesus through simple, practical acts of kindness.

Find a Small Group – One of the best way to get involved in our Serve Day is through Turning Point’s Summer Small Groups. You can find a small group by searching our Small Groups Directory. Most groups are open to new members throughout the semester, so feel free to contact the Small Group Leader that best fits your interests, meeting location, and time preference.

Our hope is that each Small Group plans and participates in a Serve Day project this summer.
If your Small Group is in need of project ideas, view our Serve Day Project Guide or visit our Serve Day Project Ideas below for more information on how to get involved.

Let’s get creative! Assess the needs of people in your neighborhood and in our local communities and plan a project that meets those needs. Check out our list of Project Ideas below, and other options from local service organizations for ways to get involved. Learn more about project planning in our Serve Day Project Guide.

We’d love to know how your group plans to participate in Serve Day. Register your group’s Serve Day Project here:

Each Small Group is responsible for the costs associated with their Serve Day project. We recommend spending time planning your project based on your group’s size and commitment level.
Bring any personal items you may need during your project: Serve Day T-shirt, sunscreen, drinking water, sneakers, a hat, etc. Your Small Group Leader can confirm any project-specific items you may need to bring: gloves, rakes, lawnmowers, tarps, work tools, etc. Work clothes are a good idea for serve opportunities requiring physical labor, and we recommend not wearing jewelry.
Small Group Leaders and Co-Leaders will receive weekly emails with Serve Day updates. Updates will also be made available through our Turning Point Website and Mobile App.

If your Serve Day project is outside, make plans to have an inclement weather option available. Some possibilities include visiting a nursing home, serving at a local service organization, or cleaning classrooms at a local school. For indoor serve ideas, view our list of Project Ideas.

Your Small Group Leader should have additional information about Serve Day, or you can email our SERVE Team here:Pastor Josh Stelly.

If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you, have you stand up, or ask you to give money. We know that many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” for awhile — and that’s fine with us! Come in, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, and see if this is the church for you. What To Expect
You’ll find everything from casual clothes to business suits at our Weekend Services. Come in what is comfortable for you, because Turning Point is not about what you look like or what you wear.

Small groups are an important part of Turning Point; in fact, you haven’t fully experienced the church until you’ve experienced our small groups. Groups allow you to meet other members and develop relationships that will spur your relationship with God. As Turning Point grows, groups allow us to “stay small” and connected. Groups are available for all ages and interests—there’s bound to be one that’s just right for you. Learn more about why we’re big on small groups, or find a group to visit in our directory. One of the easiest things to do at Turning Point is to participate in a small group. Groups meet throughout the city and provide a place for Bible study, fellowship, and support. Wherever you live, there’s a small group near you. Check out our online directory and visit a group this week.
